Garden Furniture Sale – It’s Worth the Wait!

If you’re like me, you don’t like to pay full price for anything. That means you’re on the lookout for a garden furniture sale.

My particular shopping routine means that I shop on the clearance racks. I look at classified ads in the newspaper. I go to garage sales, and I’ll offer the homeowner $1 instead of the $2 that’s listed on the fake plant or blender or pair of jeans.

It somehow feels like you’re “winning,” if you can get the price for your cherished item lower than you may have expected. You know, kind of like a treasure hunt.

So of course, when furnishing my deck, I look for a garden furniture sale!

When Will Sales Take Place?

Sales on garden furniture typically happen early in the warm weather season, mid-season, and again late in the warm weather season. More specifically, FRENCH PROVINCIAL furniture sales take place in the spring to take advantage of everyone who wants to get out of the house after a long cold winter. There will be another sale about the middle of the summer. At the end of the summer season, merchants will try to get rid of any leftover inventory so they don’t need to carry it over the winter.

Plus, next season’s deck chairs, tables, seating groups and more will include the newest styles and trends for your outdoor living areas. Most merchants like to discount the current year’s styles since they are eager to provide new products that are the latest in fashion for the upcoming season.

So where is the best place to find a bargain?

How to Find a Bargain

In the early part of the spring and summer season, many retailers will hold garden furniture sales. If you’re a savvy shopper, however, you don’t want to buy based on the first seating group that strikes your fancy.

Instead, shop online first. Get an idea of what the current trends are.

Take a look at the space you have to work with, and then decide what it is that you’re looking for. For example, do you need a small grouping like a loveseat and chair? Are you more interested in a bistro set with a table and two smaller chairs? Or do you have a large space to furnish, and need a large table and chair set to seat those large family barbeques?

This allows you to narrow down your needs before you go shopping. If you have a good idea of what it is that you need, then you’re less likely to buy something on the spur of the moment, just because it’s “cute,” or that trendy neighbor down the street has one “just like this!”

This also prevents you from spending too much.

Shop the Sales Fliers

Once you’ve decided on the grouping needed for your space, then start shopping via the monthly or weekly fliers that your local merchants provide. Menards, The Home Depot, Lowe’s and other home improvement stores will provide regular sales fliers. You’ll also want to check out the sales at the big box stores like Target and Walmart. If your chosen grouping isn’t on sale, wait!

A few weeks’ wait can save you as much as 20 – 33% when your chosen outdoor grouping is included in the merchant’s garden furniture sale merchandise.

If you aren’t in a great hurry and can wait awhile, you can pick up the best bargains by shopping the end-of-season garden furniture sales.

The Best Bargains Come to Those Who Wait

Garden furniture sales are the best at the end of the warm weather season.

This is because merchants don’t want to use valuable storage space on items that they planned to sell. In the fall, retailers are beginning to plan for the holiday season. furniture sale They don’t want to spend space, time or energy on items that should have sold in the summer.

This is perfect for the bargain shopper. Typically, retailers will reduce the prices of any remaining outdoor furniture by as much as 50%, and sometimes even more!

Don’t Be Afraid to Offer Less

One shopping technique that I have come to be very fond of when discussing price is to simply ask the retailer, “Is that the best you can do?”

This can get you incredible discounts! As an example, my local garden store had a cute little bistro set that I thought would be perfect for one corner of my deck. They had several sets still outside in front of the store in mid-October, with a price of $75 for the table and two wicker chairs. The $75 price was half of the original $150 price tag.

I asked the manager if that was the best he could do. He said “Just a second,” and came back with a price of $37.50. That was a total savings off the original price of 75%. Of course, I took the set!

Especially in this economy, we need to be very careful with our hard-earned dollars. You’ll find with that one little phrase that you can get additional discounts on outdoor furniture, indoor furniture, cars, appliances, electronics and more. Don’t be afraid to ask for it!
